The wrong path

It was a senseless path

A lane littered

With apprehension

Trepidation

But lust

Lies trickled through cracks

Between the stones

Where our feet met

And danced

In the grey damp night

Before the storm

In the morning haze

Fog clung to the cobblestones

As we felt our way forwards

Nudging each other

Cautiously

Carefully

avoiding the wreckage

Silently stepping over

The broken give way sign

Pulling back the branches

Shaking the dew from the leaves

Slowly sobering

Seeing the sunrise

over the debris

And only then

did the the road ahead

Become less clear
