Day 2 – Quotes (ok, ok, so it’s a bit late)

So I may have been a little distracted but I always get there in the end 😉

My challenge from Paul over at Palfitness (check out his friendly blog & twitter) has had a little snooze but we are back with it now.

The aim of the game is to find a quote for 3 days and share the bloggin love with three others so here is my aptly found quote for today:

Inspiration from George

I thought as a little thank you for all reblogs on George for Fun I would write something inspired by the man himself so this is a little poem based on the inspiring words he promotes 🙂

Life is Short

Enjoy life
Live it to the fullest
Cram every little bit of happiness
Into the short time available
Don’t wait
Just do

Believe
Allow your dreams to soar
Reach for the stars
They are not out of reach
If you only try

Love
Yourself and those dear
Hold them close
And share out your heart
It will last longer
Living within memories
Than beating in life

Take control
Don’t let others push you
Down wrong paths
Take the road less travelled
Accept the bumps and bruises
But find joy the other side

And trust
Trust that you are enough
Always

WIP – First Class Overspill

They sit and snigger
Like infants on a fair ride
Clasping greasy brown bags
In their manicured hands
The smell of fat and fries
Wafting down the public car
Following the notes of their laughter
Filling the quiet zone
They should know better
These adults dressed up as men
With Gucci suits
And polished leather shoes
When standing
They wobble
And sway
Until one of them topples
Creating a burst of taunting

This was a part of something I wrote during an uncomfortable train journey, – Still some more to work on though

Poetry 101 Rehab: Couldn’t

Couldn’t Forget You

If I had never saw you
In that particular way
It would not have been hard
To forget you

If I had never held your gaze
For more than a minute
Never followed the train
Of your thought
Chasing the conversation
Between midnight and noon

I should never have allowed
My fleeting thoughts
to drift
Into your space
Echoing your voice
Picturing your face
Crossing the boundaries
into fields of dreams
over thinking actions
thrown away by you
Scooped up by me

I should have ignored you
But I wouldn’t

Wouldn’t wake in the morning
Without thinking of you
Would not let a night pass
Until your words confirmed
Unable to sleep
if you were out of reach

I should have forgotten you

But I couldn’t

Check out others from Poetry 101 Rehab and maybe you will be inspired to join i too 🙂

A year ago today

I was introduced to the idea of actually sharing some writing online … oh the horror!

Was my initial thought yet one year later I am glad I did ..

Everyone needs a hobby/ lifestyle/ workplace/ crazy outlet/ creative space/ storage for all the baggage place eh 😀

Blog

Real Neat Blogger Award

neatblog

So after being put forward for a bit of blog interaction via the Neat blogger award I actually had a lot more fun to complete this than expected and I think I have surprised myself even…so thank you Muskan for the nomination – Check out her pretty awesome blog HERE

My answers to the questions:

1) Your favourite book and why?
I have an awful lot of ‘favourite books’ however one of them has to be

The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson.

I think I should admit to judging this book at first by its pages and decided I had to have it on the basis that not only did it’s cover rock but it also had black page edges which just kind of sealed the deal for my younger inner Goth.
Though if you actually read this book you will find out that it isn’t just all for show, the outside appearance is actually a good visual for the story, and the story itself is pretty amazing, I would not say that I am usually a ‘romance’ reader but this book had me hooked on believing in love again without actually being pinned as a romance story.

It’s exciting, surprising and addictive, and my copy is extremely dog eared now..but I might just have to dig it out once again.

2) If you could have dinner with anyone in the world right now, who would it be?
I know this is where I’m supposed to put in some inspirational writer or something …but c’mon it will obviously be Johnny Depp .. because Johnny Depp!

3) One song you like?
Only one? — Balance beam by Blue October then – All of their songs are just so poetic

4) Pet peeve(s) of yours?
People who cast judgements on what other people are doing when it does not concern them. The way I see it is everyone should be free to do as they wish so long as it doesn’t impact negatively on others

5) Three words to describe you?
Annoying, opinionated, honest

6) One thing you can’t live without?
Water! .. and not only in a literal way. I love baths, rain, the sea, lakes .. it’s just so relaxing.

7) Favourite piece of clothing you own?
A long black velvet skirt that I have had way too long and has a small hole that I remember is there every so often…but it’s so comfy that I can’t throw it out

8) Your favourite movie and why?
Hmm – One of my very favourites would be – What Dreams May Come
It’s just such a great film dealing with tragedy and love rolled into one . It also has Robin Williams starring which helps make it great.

9) What would you be if, you could have been anything? (As a profession).
I kind of have to say author here don’t I .. though I do think being the person that operates the bulldozers would also be quite a therapeutic job

10) Your favourite superhero.
There was a fair bit of deliberation over this since it would depend which version we are talking about. I mean the comics are different to the films and the films are different to the TV shows, and then you have the artists and actors causing issue and so on and so on.

So for arguments sake I am going to opt for Wonder woman since she pretty much kicks ass which ever version and I spent a fair bit of my childhood running around with tinfoil cuffs trying to swing a lasso made of strawberry laces.

And for nominations (if willing of course)
Just Plain Old Vic – Who has a great inpirational and varied blog – check it out!
Blair King – Some great interactive poetry going on over there to read through and join in
Dharmesh – Who can make you awww or aaargh – A great blog of stories, poems and reviews

So the rules are to blog post your answers to the questions & choose another 3 bloggers to keep that blogger interaction going 🙂

The stakes are getting high..

“I see your grin and raise you a giggle ”

It always starts out this way
Just a bit of a giggle
A bit of a laugh
Then high spirits kick in
And the party gets out of hand
Everything is fine
Until someone gets hurt

“Who left the box on the stairs, anyway?”

Thanks for the inspiration today Jane 🙂

When we treat man as he is, we make him worse than he is; when we treat him as if he already were what he potentially could be, we make him what he should be.” –  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
